Our Heritage of Outreach
The Diocese of Utah recognizes the wonderful outreach performed by our churches. We also have outreach that is funded in part or in whole by your diocese. Several programs grew out of congregational ministry and others are part of our DNA as an outreach diocese for all. St. Michael's has numerous outreach activities. Acts IV (Soup Kitchen), the Box Elder Community Food Pantry, and New Hope Crisis Center have served as models for others in the Utah Diocese. As a member of the diocese, we are sometimes do not see ministries that quietly operate around us or know little about them. The Diocese has made available a two-part video that give us a glimpse of these ministries. To view the video, go the Diocesan website and scroll down the front page and find the link.
Deacon Adams reminds everyone that for individual contributions that are sent to the national headquarters must identify their congregation in order for the congregation to receive credit. If no congregation is noted, the amount is included in the total for the Diocese of Utah. Donations can also be designated for specific purposes.
Deacon Adams also reminds the congregation that there is usually a matching amount given by an anonymous donor at the end of the year. This is when St. Michael's usually sends in their donation. This year the Diocesan Convention will be held during the second quarter and the collection from the Diocese will be submitted at that time.
Remember to mark you r calendars for the annual Chicken Dinner ERD Fund Raiser held at St. Michael's. It is held on the first Saturday of NovNobember.
The Rev. Deanna Sue Adams, Deacon at St. Michael's, recently attended the Nationl Episcopal Relief and Development Conference in Chicago, Illinois. Rev. Adams serves as the Diocesan ERD coordinator. She recently reported that the Diocese of Utah contributed $6850 to the ERD in the first quarter of 2016.
